The General Gymnastics Section is our non-competitive section aimed at gymnasts from around 5 years old to 16 years old. Once children have started school they can join this section. this section allows gymnasts to build up their strength and skills before joining the competative sections if they wish.
The General Section is led by Head Coach Leigh Peers. Leigh is supported by Eilidh Jardine, Karen Watson, Moira Robertson, Ainslie Semple.
General Section classes are run on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday afternoons/evenings.
Current fees are charged at £20 per month, which should be paid by standing order. A joining fee of £32 is also to be paid; this will cover registration to Scottish Gymnastics at £17, which includes essential insurance, and the clubs annual membership of £15.
Gymnasts need to wear a red leotard for girls and a white t-shirt and red shorts for boys. Watches and jewellery must not be worn and long hair must be tied back, where earrings are newly pierced and cannot be removed they must be suitably covered by a band aid or similar to prevent any injury.
As the section usually has a lengthy waiting list, any gymnast who has not been present for three weeks with no payment and no contact made with the class, will automatically lose their place.
The general section have recently started to work towards an in house competition on beam, track and trampet. The competition will run at the start of May and classes will compete against each other on the different pieces of equipment, over three different levels. The general section has never done a competition on equipment before, so it will be a nice challenge for the gymnasts/coaches.
