is Best of British:
At the recent British Gymnastics NDP and IDP Acrobatic Gymnastics British Championship at Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke-on-Trent. 17 Partnerships from across Scotland took part in the competition against the best of British Acrobatic gymnasts at NDP and IDP level. One of these partnerships was the IDP Mixed Pair partnership of Cameron Rooney and Eve McFarlane from East Kilbride Gymnastics Club. Cameron and Eve performed two great routines against 6 other partnerships from various very successful clubs right across Britain. The scores were very close after all the routines had been performed but Cameron and Eve had performed their routines beautifully and with precision to take Gold Medal place and become the British Champions at IDP level.
Everyone at the club is very proud of their achievements and what a tale to tell their friends and family! This result is a testament to the hard work and dedication that these gymnasts and their coaches put in every single training day to get where they are now.
Their coaches Moira Robertson and Jennifer Anderson are understandably proud of Cameron and Eve’s performances. They said “What a thrilling weekend we have had at the competition. Right down to the very last routine we weren’t sure if they had actually won the gold medal, but we knew that they had performed at their very, very best and had done everything that they could to win. We couldn’t be more proud of them, they are fantastic gymnasts and great role models for the other gymnasts at the club.”
Everyone at EKGC is hugely proud of these gymnasts and coaches.
We are looking to improve the training facilities for all our gymnasts. This wll take time and lots of money. The club is carrying out as many fund raising events as we can, but can always use that little extra help.
Please help us to help you by donating or fundraising for the club. The club has set up a JustGiving page where you, your friends, your family, maybe even your employers can give either as a single donation or a regular monthly donation. Every little helps as they say.
